Chief Raymond F. Rafferty joined the Byram Township Police Department as a Police Officer in November 1990 after serving as a Police Officer for over two years with the Mendham Borough Police Department. He was assigned to the Patrol Division where he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in May of 2000. Chief Rafferty was assigned to the Sussex County Narcotics Task Force from December of 1991 through December of 1992. Chief Rafferty was promoted to Lieutenant in September of 2004 and began serving as the Department's Acting Chief of Police on April 1, 2005. On November 1, 2005 he was promoted to his current position as Chief of Police. Chief Rafferty is a graduate of the 230th Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy Class and is a member of the Sussex County Association of Chiefs of Police, the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. |
